If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” …

Romans 1:26-27

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Revelation 1:1-20

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood …

Romans 1:18-32

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, …

Ephesians 5:23-33

For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. …

1 Corinthians 7:2-16

But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. Now as a concession, not a command, I say this. …

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Matthew 19:4-6

He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? Psalm 2:1-12

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Deuteronomy 13:1-3

“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jeremiah 14:12-15

Though they fast, I will not hear their cry, and though they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.” Then I said: “Ah, Lord God, behold, the prophets say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’” And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds. Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name although I did not send them, and who say, ‘Sword and famine shall not come upon this land’: By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed.

2 Peter 2:1-22

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; …

2 Peter 2:1

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

Deuteronomy 17:17

And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.

Galatians 1:6-8

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 5:3

I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.

2 Corinthians 11:14

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Jude 1:22

Acts 4:9-12

If we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Revelation 22:18-19

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

1 Timothy 5:23

(No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.)

John 8:24

I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”

Galatians 3:10-14

For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

Galatians 2:19-21

For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Galatians 5:10-11

I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view than mine, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is. But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Matthew 5:44

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Ephesians 2:8-9

Genesis 16:10-12

The angel of the Lord also said to her, “I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.” And the angel of the Lord said to her, “Behold, you are pregnant and shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has listened to your affliction. He shall be a wild donkey of a man, his hand against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.”

Revelation 16:14

For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.

2 Timothy 3:12

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

Romans 10:1-8

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. …

Isaiah 58:3-7

‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers. Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high. Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord? “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

1 Timothy 6:1-21

Let all who are under a yoke as slaves regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled. Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things. If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. …

Romans 12:14

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

Zechariah 12:9

And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Revelation 20:7-9

And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them,

1 John 2:19

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

Hebrews 9:11-14

But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Titus 3:5-7

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Galatians 3:24

So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 2:4

Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery—

2 Corinthians 11:4

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Romans 11:5-6

So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:21

That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

Romans 7:21-25

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Romans 7:6

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Romans 5:18-21

Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?”

Luke 19:43-44

For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. Luke 9:33-35

And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!”

Luke 7:26-27

What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’

Zechariah 14:2-5

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

Zechariah 9:5-8

Ashkelon shall see it, and be afraid; Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish; Ekron also, because its hopes are confounded. The king shall perish from Gaza; Ashkelon shall be uninhabited; a mixed people shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of Philistia. I will take away its blood from its mouth, and its abominations from between its teeth; it too shall be a remnant for our God; it shall be like a clan in Judah, and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites. Then I will encamp at my house as a guard, so that none shall march to and fro; no oppressor shall again march over them, for now I see with my own eyes.

1 Kings 8:46-51

“If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near, yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’ if they repent with all their mind and with all their heart in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen, and the house that I have built for your name, then hear in heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their plea, and maintain their cause and forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them …

Galatians 3:23-26

Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. Ebola Virus Prophecies

Ebola Virus – Bible Prophecy & King James Bible Code Analysis

Ebola is a very deadly viruses that keep resurfacing as outbreaks in Africa. In 2014 there has been worsening Ebola outbreaks in Africa, and as of October 2014 the Ebola Virus is spreading worldwide, it started with an Ebola case in the U.S. in Dallas Texas. In 2014 there is a concern that the Ebola virus could mutate to go airborne and become a worldwide Doomsday pandemic. See my King James version Bible Code matrix on Ebola which has the word “airborne” in it. Will the Fourth Horseman Death ride as Ebola in 2015? Also: Can the Bible Code help us find the animal vector hiding place, the carrier host animal where the Ebola virus hides between outbreaks? This we will try to do. We will run the King James Bible Code to search for answers on the Ebola virus: where does it hide? There must be an animal host it hides in between outbreaks. The animal where it hides is a bat !

Ebola Prophecies for 2015 - Ebola Predictions 2015 - www.alamongordo.com

The Ebola outbreak that started in March 2014 in West Africa continues to spread, more than 4.000 (official) deaths so far. Is Ebola the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation, Death, riding in 2015? Will Ebola spread worldwide in 2015? Will Ebola virus have a mutation, mutate to become airborne, resulting in a world epidemic or pandemic Doomsday end of the world Apocalypse plague? Note that the spreading of the Ebola epidemic is related to the rise of the antichrist (Putin?), since the Ebola virus can twist into a 6 shape and 666 is the number of the antichrist.

Ebola virus genetic structure

The Ebola Filovirus has an RNA molecule with 18959 to 18961 nucleotides. Note that:

18960 = 316×60=79x4x60=158×120. Corresponding to 158: Revelation 15:8, King James version, “the seven plagues of the seven angels”. Note that Ebola has 7 structural proteins. Therefore, I would watch out for an Ebola strain having exactly 18960 nucleotides. Also: corresponding to 18960, Revelation 18:8-9, “plagues come in one day”. Also consider that Ebola related to 76 (First discovered in 1976), and Revelation 17:6 “I saw the woman drunken with the blood of saints”. Also, the Book of Daniel, which is also about the Antichrist: Daniel 7:6, a beast like a leopard – Antichrist. Daniel 7:9, returned Christ. Daniel 8:9, corresponding to 18960, “a little horn” – the Antichrist Putin.

*** Note that during Winter months Ebola will start spreading faster – From doubling every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks !!!

OLD TESTAMENT MATRIX – Genesis 17:5-25:32

Contains the words: AIRBORNE (ELS=2055), EBOLA, DEATH, MILLIONS, and therefore indicates Ebola may one day mutate to be airborne and spread to millions of people. Other relevant words in this matrix: THOUSANDS, BEHOLD THOU ART BUT A DEAD MAN, VIOLENTLY TAKEN AWAY. SAY DRINK, Ebola results in fever and thirst.

Dead Sea Scrolls Prophecies

Dead Sea Scrolls Prophecies

What are the Dead Sea Scrolls ? The Dead Sea scrolls are named like that because of the location of their discovery. They were found in caves in Qumran on the shore of the Dead Sea. These approximately 900 scrolls and fragments were discovered between the years 1947 and 1956. They caused much excitement in the academic and archeological fields. When were the Dead Sea Scrolls Written ? The scrolls were written around 150 B.C.E. to 70 C.E., some 2,000 years ago.

Almost all of them are in Hebrew or Aramaic. They include the oldest known copies of the Bible, some on parchment and some on papyrus. Writings from the Bible make up almost half of the scrolls. The rest consist of writings from the Second Temple period. The largest number of scrolls (39 scrolls) are Psalms, followed by Deuteronomy (33 scrolls), the Book of Enoch (25 scrolls) and Genesis (24 scrolls). In addition, writings from the Prophets are heavily represented including 22 scrolls from Isaiah. All of the books of the Bible, the Prophets and the Writings are found among the Dead Sea scrolls, except for the books of Nehemiah and Esther. The only book found in its entirety is Isaiah. It is believed that this collection of scrolls was the library of a Jewish sect known as the Essenes.

The Essenes were active from the second century before the Common Era to the first century of the Common Era. Another theory is that the scrolls were written by Jews from Jerusalem who fled the Romans at the time of the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70 C.E. Most of the Dead Sea scrolls are housed in the Shrine of the Book, a wing of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. The scrolls are on display for the public or they can be viewed online. What are the prophecies in the Dead Sea scrolls ? The prophecies written in the Dead Sea Scrolls are those included in the Bible, Prophets and Writings. The prophecies of Isaiah include the famous depictions of Messianic times when “the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the kid,” “nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” and “He will destroy death forever.” Other prophecies warn the people of Israel about the coming destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple if they fail to mend their ways. This prophecy is found in the passage, “Our holy and beautiful House, where our fathers praised Thee, is burned with fire and all our treasures are laid waste.”

A number of chapters are devoted to the punishments that will befall the nations that tormented the people of Israel, such as Babylon, Syria, Egypt and Moab. The time of the fulfillment of this promise is referred to as “the year of recompenses for the cause of Zion.” Later, Isaiah mentions the return of the people of Israel to their land, “And I will delight in Jerusalem and rejoice in my people, and the voice of crying and weeping will no longer be heard in it.” Isaiah paints a panoramic view of the final redemption with the words, “and my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. And they shall densely cover the land like a forest, and the city shall extend down into the valley” and “it shall come to pass that every new moon and every Sabbath, shall all flesh come to worship before Me.”

Prophecies about Russia

Prophecies about Russia

Different Prophets had Visions and made Predictions for Russia.

The Prophecy of Ishmael

Ishmael would be a great nation ! In the Bible, God promised Abraham and Hagar that Ishmael would become a great nation: “And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren [“defying all his kinsman]” (James Moffatt Transl)].

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation…(Gen 16:11-12;17:20). Now, the brother of Ishmael was Isaac, and his descendants are the Modern-day peoples of the United States and the British Commonwealth of Nations. The prophecies of Genesis are for the end time.

The birthright blessings of Isaac, Esau, and Ishmael all have the same time element to them. And the rise of Russia is in exact sequence to Britain and America. Russia’s rise to world power actually began before World War II, It began back in the Great European Colonial Expansion of the 17th thru the 20th centuries with the Russian Empire and Russian Revolution.

Nostradamus

The Fall of Communism In the places and times of flesh giving way to fish, The communal law will be made in opposition: It will hold strongly the old ones, then removed from the midst, Loving of Everything in Common put far behind. We have already seen this prophecy coming true. During the early 1990s in Soviet Union and Communist Europe (in those times and places), when the economic condition in these countries deteriorated (meat gave way to fish), Communism (the law of commune) was opposed by the people. The old leaders indeed tried to hold on but ultimately were removed from powers.

Ultimately Communism (all things common among friends – equality among friends – comrades) collapsed. This prophecy was understood even before its accomplishment by many interpreters. But the instability caused by collapse of USSR and the resulting unipolar world may indirectly be the cause of the next great war.

The discovery of the first Dead Sea Scrolls in a remote Judean Desert cave in 1947 is widely considered the greatest archaeological event of the twentieth century. Bedouin treasure hunters and archaeologists ultimately found the remains of hundreds of ancient scrolls. These fragile pieces of parchment and papyrus, including the oldest existing copies of the Hebrew Bible, were preserved for two thousand years by the hot, dry desert climate and the darkness of the caves where they were placed. The scrolls provide an unprecedented picture of the diverse religious beliefs of ancient Judaism, and of daily life during the turbulent Second Temple period when Jesus lived and preached.

You are to have no other gods but me.”— DEUTERONOMY 5:6-7

PSALMS SCROLL

— PSALMS 133:1

An additional prose passage provides one of the most ancient references to King David as the composer of the book of Psalms: “and David, the son of Jesse, was wise, and a light like the light of the sun… And he wrote 3,600 psalms.” Psalm 133, shown here, praises peace and togetherness.
MINOR PROPHETS SCROLL
Date: 50–1 bce, Herodian Period, Language: Greek. The “Twelve Minor Prophets” scrolls from the Judean Desert offer early evidence for the compilation of these short prophetic books into a single literary work. This particular fragment, from a Greek translation of the Minor Prophets discovered in the Cave of Horror at Nahal Hever, contains a prophecy of Micah about the End of Days and the rise of a ruler out of Bethlehem.
NON-BIBLICAL SCROLLS
Non-biblical texts discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls offer us a tantalizing glimpse of life during the Second Temple period and the opportunity to understand the attitudes, desires and aspirations of the people of that time. Most of the scrolls from the Qumran caves are religious writings from the Second Temple period. Some of these reflect the life and philosophy of a distinctive group that called itself the “Yahad” (“Community”). At other sites, the major finds were administrative and personal documents dating from the catastrophic Judean revolt against Rome in 132–135 ce.

APOCRYPHON OF DANIEL
Date: 50–1 bce, Herodian Period, Language: Aramaic. The Dead Sea Scrolls contain extensive apocalyptic literature relating to the final messianic battle at the End of Days. The Aramaic Apocryphon of Daniel describes either a messianic figure or a boastful ruler that will arise as “Son of God” or “Son of the Most High”, like the apocalyptic redeemer in the biblical book of Daniel. The text calls to mind the New Testament proclamation of the angel Gabriel concerning the new-born Jesus: “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High… ” (Luke 1:32)
THE BOOK OF WAR
Date: 20–50 ce, Herodian Period, Language: Hebrew. The Book of War details an apocalyptic 40-year battle between the forces of good and evil.
